What not to paste into AI tools, and why it matters.
- Don't paste personal data about customers, patients or pupils unless your employer has approved the tool for that use.
- Don't paste confidential business information into consumer tools without checking their terms.
- Follow your organisation's AI policy. If there isn't one, ask.
The ICO publishes guidance on AI and data protection. The UK government's AI Playbook sets out principles for using AI safely, lawfully and responsibly in the public sector, and is a useful read for anyone.
